I wonder why we keep making so many mistakes with the indigenous people of Australia?? We took their children away, the we tried to fix it and we said sorry for all the stolen generations. Now child protection is making another stolen generation or a few generations. I would think it cheaper and better to put enough people in a community to offer support and safety so that young people can be loved and cared for, even if the love comes from one place and the care from another. Perhaps seeing good behaviour modelled would be learned by parents who are failing their children for so many reasons. If it isn't learned then the children still have the love of their family and the food and safety offered by support workers, all better than taking children away. It's also very expensive taking the children away. If we cant offer at the least the four layers from the bottom up, we're failing.
